Frogs and toads on the move
On a family and friends trip up to Mugdock castle last week we spotted literally hundreds of small toads - roughly a centimeter long - crawling over the gravel in amongst the castle ruins. Our 6 year old daughter Ellen and our kiwi german friends' 4 year old daughter Maja couldn't resist gently picking them up. The following week whilst bracken pulling up at Loch Ardinning reserve plenty of similarly small frogs were seen in amongst the heather and blaeberry that had been hidden by bracken some moments earlier. Meanwhile front and back garden toads are back in our Milngavie garden hopefully eating the slugs. I had been a bit concerned at not seeing any frogs and toads throughout June and early July so am relieved to see plenty about in late July and August.
