Nature in the garden today
The warmer than average September has been great in Milngavie and at risk of anthropomorphizing the wildlife in our gardens has been enjoying it too. A large peacock butterfly settles on a slab of concrete and opens its wings to bask in the sun. The asters are in full bloom and numerous red admirals and various types of bee feed from their soft blue flowers. The sunflowers continue to attract numerous insects and ivy is abuzz with wasps and other insects. A spider in a conservatory traps a beautiful irredescent greenbottle fly, Lucilia sericata in its web.
