First apple of the year!

Just finished eating my first 'Discovery' apple from the garden. It was a windfall and there was a tense, exciting - well mildly so - moment before I bit into it: Would it be ripe, would it be tasty? It was good, two thumbs up. There is still one more on the tree and one Galloway Pippin as well. Our other 2 new apple trees, a Cambusnethan Pippin and Lord Derby did not fruit this first year.
